On the morning of December 12, Director Lyu Jinzhong and Deputy Director Zhao Chunping of the Department of Investigation and Statistical Research, People's Bank of China (PBC) Shanghai Head Office led a delegation to Shanghai International Group (SIG) for a survey on the pilot statistical work of financial holding companies. Liu Xinyi, President of SIG, met with the delegation. Zhong Maojun, Chief Operation Officer of SIG; as well as relevant staff members of the Department of Financial Management, the Department of Capital Operation, the Department of Strategic Development and the Department of Risk Management and Compliance of SIG were present.
Zhong introduced SIG's overall situation and financial business development. The head of the Department of Financial Management reported the key difficulties in statistical work and the next-stage work plan. The Department of Investigation and Statistical Research, PBC Shanghai Head Office was satisfied with the pilot statistical work of SIG's financial holding companies, thought that SIG and the three financial institutions including SPDB had overcome difficulties, jointly accomplished the four-session statistical mission for the first time, made a good start and raised specific requirements for further improving the timeliness of data submission and data quality.
Lyu noted that the pilot statistical work of financial holding companies is the foundation of PBC's macro-prudential management, and provides a decision making basis for the central government to prevent and resolve systematic financial risks. SIG should enhance its stance, attach great importance to the pilot statistical work of financial holding companies, strengthen the deployment of statistical work resources, increase the input into professional statistical talent training and information system construction, and step up communication and collaboration with the three financial institutions. The Department of Investigation and Statistical Research will, in association with SIG, establish a statistical work coordination mechanism with the three financial institutions. He hoped that SIG would work with the three financial institutions on the pilot statistical work of financial holding companies, to form Shanghai's experience in the statistical work of financial holding companies.
