According to the work requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for successfully holding the democratic life meeting on education themed "Staying true to the mission", Shanghai International Group (SIG) held a democratic life meeting on education themed "Staying true to the mission" on the afternoon of August 28. Yu Beihua, Secretary of the CPC SIG Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors, hosted the meeting. Party members among SIG's leaders attended the meeting. The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and Chief Operation Officer of SIG were present. Zuo Yan, Head of the 17th Tour Steering Group of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee on Theme Education, attended the meeting and made comments.

SIG's leaders attached great importance to the meeting by working out an elaborate work plan to make full preparation. On the basis of self-learning, SIG organized 16 collective studies. In forms such as group learning, expert guidance, discussion and exchange, participants learned materials such as Outline of Learning Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Selected Important Statements of Xi Jinping on "Staying True to the Mission" and Important Regulations of the Communist Party of China, the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches at the work meeting on education themed "Staying true to the mission", in the 15th collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and during his visit to Inner Mongolia, as well as the spirit of his important instruction to Shanghai, and learned the Party Constitution, Rules, Regulations, Party history and the history of the People's Republic of China, to lay a solid ideological foundation for the democratic life meeting. Leaders extensively solicited opinions from cadres and staff in forms such as individual interview, seminar, questionnaire issuance and field survey. According to the requirements of "four must talks", key leaders and members of the CPC SIG Committee, between members, between members and heads of departments in charge and Party members of Party branches made communication and exchanged opinions. On the basis of seeking gaps in comparison with the Party Constitution and Party regulations, key leaders of the CPC SIG Committee spearheaded the writing of comparison, self-examination and analysis materials, and submitted them to the steering group for examination. Leaders put themselves in, wrote self-examination and analysis materials, searched existing problems and identified the direction of correction, to lay a solid foundation for holding the democratic life meeting successfully.

The meeting reported the correction results of the 2018 democratic life meeting. Aiming at the found problems, SIG's leaders worked out a correction plan, decomposed tasks and made clear work responsibilities. Through more than six months of efforts, SIG has made new progress in ideological and political building and grass-roots Party building, achieved significant results in reform, development and business operations, kept improving its state-owned capital operation platforms and investment operation capacity, constantly deepened the incentive and restraint mechanism and talent team building, practically enhanced the cohesion of cadres and staff, steadily advanced corrective measures and achieved actual effects.

Yu conducted self-examination and analysis on behalf of SIG's leaders. According to General Secretary Xi Jinping's requirements of "four comparisons" and "four searches", SIG's leaders searched 12 existing deficiencies in "four aspects", analyzed the roots of the problems in light of actualities of ideological work, and made clear correction targets and measures in such aspects as continuously learning Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristic for a new era, stepping up efforts to achieve breakthrough in the reform of key projects, advancing the pilot building of financial holding groups, deepening and refining the "four-responsibility coordination" mechanism, strengthening the standardization and normalization of grass-roots Party building, and perfecting the market incentive and restraint mechanism.

Yu conducted self-examination and analysis first, followed by other leaders who offered critical opinions each other. They profoundly presented problems found in theme education, sought deficiencies in theory, work, thought and style, spelled out problems, ideological causes and corrective measures, and criticized each other in a straightforward, frank and well-targeted way, thus achieving good effects.

On behalf of the 17th Tour Steering Group of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee on Theme Education, Zuo commented on SIG's theme education and democratic life meeting. The CPC SIG Committee attached great importance to theme education, carried out learning and education, conducted investigation and research, examined problems and made correction throughout theme education in strict accordance with the arrangements and requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and organically integrated theme education with the key tasks of reform and development being advanced by SIG. The committee made correction immediately after finding problems arising in self-examination, implemented some corrective measures and achieved actual effects. During theme education, the committee practically assumed the subject responsibility of managing thought, stressing learning and promoting implementation. Yu Beihua took the lead, set an example and conducted full-process control, to practically perform his duty as the first responsible person. Through the democratic life meeting, SIG's leaders led a serious political life within the Party, conducted a political examination, achieved the goal of unifying thought, building consensus, enhancing unity and boosting spirit, and achieved actual effects in theme education. She hoped that the CPC SIG Committee would keep the good work style and learning atmosphere developed during theme education: firstly, learn, think, practice and comprehend continuously and deeply to consolidate education and learning results; secondly, steadily implement corrective measures and focus on addressing prominent problems; lastly, carry forward the self-revolution spirit and strengthen leading body building.

On behalf of the CPC SIG Committee, Yu extended heartfelt thanks to the 17th Tour Steering Group of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee on Theme Education for its guidance and support during theme education. As one of the first entities involved, SIG has never ceased learning Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era though SIG's education themed "Staying true to the mission" is drawing to a close. Next SIG will focus on three tasks. Firstly, be armed with theories and enhance political stance. With the democratic life meeting as a new starting point, SIG should constantly enhance the ideological consciousness, political consciousness and action consciousness of performing the Party's mission. Secondly, make correction and improvement. The fundamental to theme education is correction and improvement. For the problems found in the democratic life meeting, SIG's leaders should refine and perfect corrective measures, make clear the time limit of correction, perform corrective responsibilities and strive to achieve actual effects visible to Party members and the masses. Lastly, assume responsibility and mission based on functional orientation. SIG should seriously implement the spirit of Secretary Li Qiang's speech during his visit to SIG, firmly seize the opportunity from Shanghai's regional comprehensive reform of state-owned assets and enterprises, focus on the building of Shanghai International Financial Center and Technology Innovation Center and the three new major tasks, improve the capability of initiatively serving Shanghai's major strategic tasks, work out "7+6" reform schemes and conduct special researches, deepen the function of state-owned capital operation platforms, advance pilot financial holding supervision, work out a new three-year action plan, make innovation and achieve breakthrough in key fields, to keep creating a new prospect the reform and development of SIG.
