SIG Makes All-out Efforts in 48 Hours' Defense Against Super Typhoon "Lekima"

Super typhoon "Lekima" made landfall with rainstorms from August 9 to 11. During over 40 hours from 1 PM August 9 when the Shanghai Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert for the typhoon to 6 AM August 11 when Shanghai lifted the alert, Shanghai International Group (SIG) feared no hardships, performed the responsibility for safety management, took strict measures, stayed in solidarity and made all-out efforts to defend against the typhoon.

On a yellow alert for the typhoon

SIG made all-out efforts to defend against the typhoon with high standards, strict requirements and measures. On the morning of August 9, according to the requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government for defending against super typhoon "Lekima", SIG convened a Party committee meeting on typhoon and flood prevention, conveyed the instruction of CPC Shanghai the Municipal Committee and government in typhoon and flood prevention, and comprehensively deployed SIG's work on typhoon and flood prevention, to be well prepared for typhoon and flood prevention.

On the afternoon of August 9, SIG's leaders led teams to key areas of SIG's subsidiaries to conduct inspection and make comprehensive arrangement against the typhoon.

The SIG system moved into action, strengthened prevention for projects in progress, conducted comprehensive and systematic checks to practically eliminate potential risks and hazards, and strengthened guard, with all safety management staff in place for any emergency after the launch of the emergency response to typhoon prevention.

Implement preventive measures at the front line

On the early morning of August 10, typhoon "Lekima" made landfall in Zhejiang, bringing along endless winds and rainstorms to Shanghai. In the day, SIG's leaders and heads of SIG's subsidiaries, against wind and rain, headed for the sites of key projects under construction such as The Bund International Building and Golden Bridge Project for inspection. SIG's subsidiaries strictly implemented the duty system for typhoon and flood prevention, duly updated the deployment and movement of typhoon and flood prevention, made checks every other hour at important time, eliminated potential hazards found in time and implemented the regular zero accident report system, to ensure that typhoon and flood prevention in key areas was led, organized and implemented properly, with personnel in place.

About 120 staff members of SIG's subsidiaries were on duty during typhoon and flood prevention. According to the typhoon pre-warning report, they made over 300 checks.

On August 11, winds and rains faded away in Shanghai. SIG immediately made pre-resumption checks, summarized lessons from typhoon prevention, corrected founded loopholes, kept improving workflows, formed a long-acting mechanism, analyzed causes of exposed problems and implemented corrective measures. Besides, SIG further strengthened typhoon and flood emergency drills and plan implementation, and constantly improved the capabilities of disaster prevention and relief, to make due contributions to the operation safety of SIG.
