Go where there is epidemic, fight it till it perishes. Shanghai is facing an unprecedented challenge amid the epidemic outbreak. To win the tough battle against the epidemic, at the call of the CPC and CYL committees of SIG, SIG's League members have stayed united and worked around the clock in the frontline as volunteers. By April 13, 102 League members of SIG had provided volunteer services 470 times and 114 League members had been on duty.
As the community was locked down for days, residents was short of food and the grass-roots forces of the neighborhood committee were inadequate, Hong Mohan from the League Branch of SIG's Headquarters volunteered to be the group purchase leader in her community helping ease the shortage of supplies. The work was complicated. From contacting suppliers, organizing WeChat group relays and payments, creating Excel sheets and verifying orders, to applying for protective supplies, disinfecting supplies and delivering supplies from door to door, she often had to work from early morning till late night. She came across various emergencies in this process, for example, an order was delayed as the supplier's driver or warehouse was tested positive; she had to contact the supplier to return part of the payment in case of any weight loss of goods received by residents…she overcame these difficulties meticulously, patiently and efficiently. Besides, she signed up as a community volunteer together with her family, responsible for delivering supplies and disinfecting environment. As a Party member and League member, she felt honored to play her due role at the grass-roots level, and would, along with other volunteers, shoulder the responsibility of the young generation and contribute to the victory against the epidemic.
Feng Yuwei from the First League Branch of Shanghai State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. (SSAM) joined the mobile young volunteer team organized by the neighborhood committee of her sub-district. On the eve of the closedown, she responded to the call by delivering emergency supplies to elderly residents living alone in the community, and assisted the sub-district in unloading arrived "vegetable packs" and delivering them from door to door overnight to ensure fresh vegetables were in place at the earliest possible time. In doing so, she contributed to the sub-district's epidemic prevention and control during the lockdown. Chu Xiao from the headquarters of SSAM signed up as a nucleic acid test volunteer after her community was locked down. According to the unified arrangement of the community, she helped the elderly residents that cannot use mobile phones well complete information registration for nucleic acid testing, QR code screen capture and other preparations, to accelerate testing. She has so far helped over 50 residents.
After her community was locked down, Zhou Jiachen from the Second League Branch of SSAM spread the policies of epidemic prevention among residents, collected domestic garbage, found out and reported residents' difficulties, picked up express parcels and take-out food for residents, and took care of pets for residents. Though her baby was young, Mou Ping, a young Party member, frequently assisted the community in nucleic acid testing and antigen testing in disregard of the sweat-soaked clothes beneath the protective suit. Counting and delivering vegetables was routine and complex, but she made timely deliveries without any omission.
After her community went into a 14-day lockdown, Li Min from the Third League Branch of SSAM signed up at the earliest possible time as a volunteer subject to unified arrangement by the neighborhood committee, responsible for informing all residents in her building to do nucleic acid tests and counting the number of participants. On a contactless basis, via the WeChat group and the building intercom system, she informed her neighbors to do 7 nucleic acid tests in time and made counts.
League members from the headquarters of SSAM reported to their communities. While fulfilling their own work, they have taken active part in community volunteer services, including PDA scanning, delivering vegetable packs and express parcels, distributing antigen test kits and registering distribution, recovering test results and compiling statistics.
