Citywide static management has made supplies delivery a top priority in the united fight against the epidemic as Shanghai was at the crucial moment of epidemic control. During the lockdown, supplies were transported by deliverymen to entrances of many communities in Shanghai before being delivered by volunteers from door to door. The workload was huge and the risk of infection was high for volunteers in densely populated communities. Completing "last-mile" or "last-100-meter" deliveries safely and efficiently to well coordinate the epidemic control system with the supplies support system is a must-addressed problem for all communities.
In Shanghai Mansion, Jiuliting Sub-district, a "Neolix unmanned vehicle" was delivering supplies at the community entrance between buildings before they were delivered from door to door. The vehicle provides contactless living supplies delivery services to address the problem of "last-10-meter" deliveries to a great extent.
Aiming at common pains of communities in Shanghai, including the heavy workload and high potential risk of living supplies deliveries, Neolix, an enterprise invested in by Shanghai Sci-tech Capital (SSC), modified some unnamed vehicles through configuration optimization and adjustment overnight, and partnered with the investor Yunqi Partners to provide vehicles for free use by the willing communities amid the epidemic outbreak. Coordinated by Yang Bin, General Manager of SSC, Laiyin Community responded at the earliest possible time responded at the earliest possible time and an unmanned vehicle arrived the next day. Directed and supported by Neolix online, the first "Neolix unmanned vehicle" joined the community's supplies delivery team on April 24.
"We picked two young volunteers for coordination and operation. After the vehicle operated steadily, we delivered it to the property office for the conveyance and point-to-point deliveries of supplies in the community," said a head of the Party Branch of Laiyin Community. "We really appreciate General Manager Yang Bin helping us solve some practical problems as a volunteer and making us keenly feel the power of technology in the fight against the epidemic. Since its arrival, the Neolix unmanned vehicle has drawn close attention from residents, especially children." Now via a WeChat mini program, the vehicle can autonomously deliver supplies from the community entrance to the designated unloading area in the community, and can handle nearly 500 kilograms each time. When precise location is realized, the vehicle will deliver supplies to door to greatly ease the pressure of volunteers.
Invested in by Yunqi Partners, a sub-fund of SSC, Neolix is an automotive-grade platform committed to developing intelligent unmanned service vehicles that integrate the strengths of "vehicles", "robots" and "AI" and come with the AI features of L4 autonomous driving and service robots. Neolix focuses on providing mobile services such as logistics transportation and unmanned delivery. Since mid-March, Neolix has deployed a total of 154 vehicles to support Shanghai's fight against the epidemic, providing the services of contactless anti-epidemic supplies delivery and contactless grocery selling to mobile cabin hospitals, science parks and over 80 communities. These vehicles have executed 12,474 commands, delivered 281,232 packages of supplies and sold approximately 77 tons of vegetables and fruits in a contactless way. An unmanned vehicle with a load capacity of 500 kilograms of vegetables and fruits can autonomously find a designated point in the community. The intelligent container can keep food fresh through the features of thermostatic refrigeration and ozone sterilization. The intelligent battery swap system supports the 24-hour uninterrupted operation of the vehicle. Residents can follow voice prompts to scan QR code on the display to buy desired living supplies in a contactless way. Neolix has leveraged technology to complete the "last-mile" and "last-100-meter" deliveries of supplies, meeting the daily living needs of residents all day.
Whether telecommuting and telemedicine that rose in epidemic control or electric vehicles and intelligent manufacturing now thriving, science and technology is making its way into the daily life of people. "New infrastructure" represented by 5G, cloud computing, AI and IoT is profoundly changing all aspects, including social governance, manufacturing and livelihood service. During investment and post-investment management, SSC has upheld the philosophy of "tech empowerment", guiding its invested enterprises in performing social responsibility while increasing technology contents and stepping up innovations, to benefit all and empower life with technology, and pass the "warmth" of technology.
At the crucial moment of containing the spread of the epidemic, SSC-invested sci-tech innovation enterprises are trying their best to contribute to Shanghai's epidemic prevention and control in various ways, and demonstrating their responsibility by action. We believe that technology will make something good happen.
