Firming up Confidence, Going All Out to Support Shanghai in Winning Tough Battle against COVID-19: SIG's Anti-epidemic Volunteer Team Holds Second Online Work Meeting

On the night of April 29, SIG's anti-epidemic volunteer team held the second online work meeting. Chen Zhenpeng, Member of the CPC SIG Committee, Director of the Organization Department and leader of the volunteer team, hosted the meeting. Present were the team members and the relevant staff of the Department of Administration of SIG.

On behalf of SIG's leading body, Chen first extended greetings to the volunteers. Over the past two weeks since they joined communities' epidemic control efforts, especially since Shanghai launched the nine actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases socially, they have taken on heavy responsibilities bravely and charged ahead in the frontline against the epidemic, demonstrating their special responsibility in the special period. SIG's leaders have been concerned about them. Recently the CPC SIG Committee has extended greetings to these frontline volunteers and provided maximum support to them.

At the meeting, the volunteers expressed their gratitude for the care and greetings from SIG's leaders, and shared their experience and practices in recent volunteer services.

He Lei, Assistant to Director of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office of SIG: Since joining the community's fight against the epidemic as a volunteer, I have assisted in transferring nearly 100 positive-tested residents in four groups. During the transfer, some residents were worried and uncooperative. Under the circumstances, we should patiently explain policies and scientific knowledge to them. And we reported any difficulty in transferring pregnant women and aged residents, and did what we could to help them. On April 22, Weifang Sub-district I have assisted established a temporary Party committee for volunteers, which was made up of the temporary Party branches of the eastern, central and western residential quarters of the sub-district. I was honored to be appointed as a member of the temporary Party committee and secretary of the temporary Party branch of the central residential quarter. Our Party organization is temporary but our responsibilities are not. Next we should further leverage the fortress role of grass-roots Party organizations in epidemic prevention.

Zhang Cheng at the Department of Investment Management I of SIG: After attending a recent analytical meeting on epidemic prevention and control along with the secretary of the Neighborhood Committee of Jing'an Residential Area, I felt the overall epidemic situation was improving gradually. This week I was arranged to answer calls from residents, and felt information from all quarters were messy. We must get rid of rumors and convey facts to spread positive energy. We should resolutely implement and proactively publicize prevention and control policies released by superior departments, respond to public concerns, combat the behavior of disturbing and damaging the overall interests in the fight against the epidemic, and clarify rumors, thereby pooling tremendous strengths to overcome the hard times.

Wu Hongyi at Shanghai State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd.: Since joining the community's epidemic control efforts, I have helped the neighborhood committee establish a group buy system stipulating that group buys cover living necessities only, there should be at least one week between two group buys and group buy leaders should report group buys to the neighborhood committees. We have also published group buy information on the WeChat official account of the community. According to the feedback of residents and the sub-district, the system has standardized group buys and restricted quantities of buys to effectively reduce the risk of spread. To further implement the nine actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases socially, I was arranged by Dongming Road Sub-district to assist in disinfecting the public environment and buildings. Though the work was laborious, I hope my humble contributions would help the sub-district eliminate COVID-19 cases first.

Lu Wenqi at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.: As the community I have assisted was old with obsolete infrastructure, small-spaced buildings, a large flow of residents and many group tenants, and elderly residents aged 60 or above account for 60%, the community was under heavy pressure of eliminating COVID-19 cases dynamically. But now the team is expanding as a growing number of volunteers have reported to the neighborhood committee, we are confident of beating the epidemic. We have tided over the hardest times, and should consolidate our outcomes from details at the upcoming stage of fully eliminating COVID-19 cases. I really appreciate the concern and greetings from the leaders of SIG and the sub-district. Though the grass-roots work is hard, it is a good opportunity for me to approach the grass-roots level and the masses. We will firm up confidence and endure all hardships to accomplish our mission of eliminating COVID-19 cases.

Chen Bin at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.: With over 30 communities in the sub-district, we were previously under the heavy pressure, but since the launch of the nine actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases socially, we have achieved substantial results in epidemic prevention and control, and the situation has improved greatly as a growing number of volunteers have recently joined us. For example, many have recently come to our sub-district to claim anti-epidemic supplies for personnel involved in work and production resumption. I can keenly feel that the epidemic situation is improving. But as the final stage is most crucial, we should stay vigilant against the epidemic to consolidate the hard-won outcomes of epidemic prevention and control

Xuan Jie at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.: The community I have assisted, governed by the First Neighbor Committee of Tongfu, Beicai Town, was worst hit by the epidemic in Pudong. During the laborious epidemic control work, we should understand and tolerate mood swings of residents, communicate with them in proper ways, fully consider their feelings, and patiently advise them, to provide volunteer services in a civilized and standardized manner. We should fully understand the negative impact of the epidemic on the life of residents, show timely concern for and provide timely support to the needy, to dispel their worries and serve them more proactively.

Tang Anjie at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.: I am responsible for carrying and distributing supplies and assisting in nucleic acid tests. As positive cases have increased in the residential area I am assisting in recent two weeks, many residents have become resistant to nucleic acid tests. Now my top responsibility is communicating with residents to ensure the successful completion of nucleic acid tests. During dealing with residents, we must put ourselves in their shoes, serve them well, and patiently guide them in putting the overall interests above all and subjecting themselves to overall arrangements while fully understanding their feelings, so as to make residents rational and calm, keep epidemic prevention and control in good order, and provide strong support for eliminating COVID-19 cases socially.

Chen Zhenpeng, Member of the CPC SIG Committee, Director of the Organization Department and leader of the volunteer team: It has been two weeks since our volunteers joined the frontline fight against the epidemic. SIG's leaders have been concerned about their frontline work and life every day, repeatedly emphasizing that they should stay vigilant and safe. Now the overall epidemic situation of Shanghai is improving. We must firm up our confidence to win, stay alert, redouble efforts, continue to provide meticulous and solid volunteer services, further consolidate and expand the outcomes of eliminating COVID-19 cases, assist in achieving the goal of eliminating COVID-19 cases socially as early as possible, and provide support for resuming work and production in an orderly manner.

At the meeting, other volunteers also joined discussions. At the important moment of the tough and decisive battle of eliminating COVID-19 cases socially, SIG's frontline volunteers have helped each other and stayed united. They would bear in mind the ardent entrustment of SIG's leaders, further keep up spirit to overcome hardships and win the decisive battle, and work with the medical staff, community workers and volunteers around to support Shanghai in beating the epidemic as soon as possible.
