On the night of May 6, SIG's anti-epidemic volunteer team held the third online work meeting, to convey the spirit of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee held on May 5, further unify thoughts and understanding, firm up the confidence in winning, and enhance the sense of responsibility, thereby contributing to winning the battle for the defense of Shanghai. Wu Jun, Vice Secretary of the CPC SIG Committee, hosted the meeting. Present were members of SIG's anti-epidemic volunteer team and the relevant staff of the Department of Administration of SIG.
On behalf of SIG's leading body, Wu extended cordial greetings and sincere thanks to the volunteers. Three weeks ago, amid the grim epidemic situation, we stood out, signed up as volunteers, went wherever we were needed most on behalf of SIG, overcame all hardships and worked around the clock in the frontline, to contribute the power of SIG to Shanghai's epidemic prevention and control efforts. Thanks to the concerted efforts of medical staff, community workers and volunteers, Shanghai has achieved staged results in epidemic prevention and control. SIG has been proud of us, and always been concerned about our work and life. The CPC SIG Committee conveyed, studied and implemented the spirit of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee held on May 5. General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the goal of "winning the battle for the defense of Shanghai", mobilizing us to go all out to fight the epidemic, and motivating us to keep fighting to achieve the goal. Hopefully SIG's frontline volunteers will earnestly study and implement the spirit of the meetings, firmly unify their thoughts and actions on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches, as well as the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, implement the work requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, perform our duty to defend Shanghai, ride on the momentum, and go all out to win the battle for the defense of Shanghai.
The volunteers expressed their gratitude for the care and greetings from SIG's leaders, and shared their experience in recent volunteer services with a focus on further implementing the spirit of the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee.
Chen Zhenpeng, Member of the CPC SIG Committee, Director of the Organization Department and leader of the anti-epidemic volunteer team:
It has been three weeks since we went to the frontline. Over the period, SIG's leaders have been much concerned about us, providing strong support for our work and life. Work has been tough, but every one of us has been fully devoted, and many have undertaken risky tasks such as transferring positive-tested residents. We have maintained high spirits and positive work status. Shanghai has achieved staged results in epidemic prevention and control, and every frontline volunteer like us has been inspired by the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee. But as a Chinese saying goes, "Ninety miles are only half of a 100-mile journey." We should not slack off with a victory near at hand, but further enhance our sense of responsibility and urgency, keep a sober mind, firmly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and the relevant work requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, implement epidemic prevention and control measures in a more speedy, urgent and practical manner, and go all out to win the battle for the defense of Shanghai.
Wu Shumin, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd.:
We really appreciate the concern and encouragement from SIG's leaders. Shangyou Village, Gaodong Town, Pudong New Area I am assisting has been closed for nearly two months. Without income, many group tenants here have gradually developed negative emotions as they could not afford rent and were running out of supplies, putting heavy pressure on us in epidemic control and mass work. The meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee both stressed that we should go all out to meet the people's basic living needs to better warm them and gain their support. At the crucial moment of the decisive battle for the defense of Shanghai, I will continue to serve as a "screw", play my part as a volunteer, assist the village committee in strengthening planning and studying out effective measures, address residents' immediate concerns, lead residents in obeying work arrangements for epidemic prevention, ensure the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures, and make my due contributions to winning the tough battle against the epidemic.
Zhao Cheng, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.:
I am assisting Shunqing Neighborhood Committee, Beizhan Sub-district, Jing'an District. Next to Qipu Road Clothing Market, it is home to many migrants and group tenants. It is one of the earliest areas that saw an epidemic outbreak in early March. At first some residents did not understand us and were uncooperative in nucleic acid tests. After taking their opinions and suggestions, we did what we could to address their needs for living supplies, medicine dispensing and seeking medical advice. As the number of new cases has dropped to single digits this week through our efforts, residents' anxieties have been eased, all have become calmer, and the tempo of work and production resumption has been accelerated. We are inspired by the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee held on May 5, feeling the strong determination of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee to win the battle for the defense of Shanghai. Next we will continue to tighten epidemic control to consolidate and expand the outcomes of epidemic prevention and control.
Liu Bin, Vice General Manager of the Department of Investment Management II of SIG:
We really appreciate the concern from SIG's leaders. As most buildings in Jiali Residential Area, Gonghe New Road Sub-district, Jing'an District I am assisting are high-rise and super high-rise buildings, and there are a lot of positive cases in this area, we are under heavy pressure and still at a crucial moment. We have new cases emerging endlessly in our community these days, which were caused by group buys and medicine dispensing. Here I remind you that we should never lower our guard in work though the overall epidemic situation is improving, and stay vigilant to keep ourselves safe. Since going to the frontline, I have been involved in grass-roots work, learned about social facts behind news and data, known the toughness of grass-roots work, and grown in work practices. I will stick to my post, serve as a good speaker, demonstrator and close friend, fully devote myself to the ten actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases, and contribute to winning the battle for the defense of Shanghai.
Wang Jianbao, Assistant to General Manager of SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.:
I am assisting the Caojiacun Neighborhood Committee, Changfeng Sub-district, Putuo District. The committee governs three communities but has five staff members only. The pressure of epidemic prevention and control was heavy at first, but the epidemic situation has improved as more volunteers are joining us, and all the communities have turned into precaution zones. We have stayed vigilant by tightening exit control and reducing gatherings. Recently I have been responsible for keeping order at the entrance to the community supermarket. To strictly implement restrictions on release, I have explained patiently to aged residents and foreigners. Seeing more and more deliverymen in roads lately, the colleagues of the neighborhood committee and residents around have become more positive and more confident that the goal of eliminating COVID-19 cases socially will be achieved early. However, it is still too early to relax our efforts, the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee stressed that "reducing new cases" and "preventing the resurgence of the virus" are both top priorities in current epidemic prevention and control, and we must treasure the hard-won outcomes.
Wu Hongyi at Shanghai State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd.:
After going to the frontline, I was first responsible for group buy management at a community. Through measures such as rule setting and information disclosure, the range and frequency of group buys have been controlled effectively. All the work concerning group buys, from application, examination and publicity to supplies pickup and disinfection, is now on track and subject to closed-loop management in the community. On April 25, I was assigned by the sub-district to join a disinfection team to disinfect communities and buildings without cases. As the weather has been hot lately, in airtight protective suits, with 25-kilogram sprayers on backs, we need to walk for three hours each time, which was a great test to both stamina and willpower. In the frontline, I have keenly experienced the hardships of grass-roots work, especially when we are short of hands and have a lot of things to take care of, we need to further think about how to conduct grass-roots management and serve the masses well under the heavy pressure of epidemic prevention and control.
Deng Liexin at Guoxin Venture Capital:
I was touched by a word at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee: "We won the battle defending Wuhan and are sure to achieve another win in Shanghai". I served as a volunteer for more than two months in my hometown-Hubei two years ago, and joined Shanghai's fight against the epidemic two years later. I can feel the heavy responsibility and mission on my shoulder. Particularly, Weifang Residential Area Sub-district I am assisting is an area hit hard by the epidemic in Pudong New Area. The sub-district had more than 600 new cases in my first day here. I was ready for any emergency transfer and under heavy pressure. As the number of new cases in the sub-district has dropped and been put under control lately, I was arranged to join the sub-district's young commando to inspect and supervise the implementation of prevention and control measures. I feel the epidemic situation of the sub-district has been improving with each passing day, and have more confidence in winning the battle for the defense of Shanghai.
Chen Bin at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.:
I am in Jiangwan Town Sub-district, Hongkou District responsible for distributing antigen supplies. We have more than 100 thousand residents in the sub-district, basically two truckloads of antigen test kits arrived every two or three days, so we had to unload, check and distribute test kits all time, the workload was heavy, we have distributed over 3 million kits to residents over the past three weeks, our work allows of no carelessness in spite of high repeatability. Now Shanghai is advancing the ten actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases according to relevant requirements. Of these actions, "point eradication", community control, test and screening are closely related to my current responsibility. Please rest assured that I will remain committed to my duty, sir.
Xuan Jie at SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd.:
I am assisting the First Neighbor Committee of Tongfu, Beicai Town, one of the earliest and hardest hit by the epidemic in Pudong. There were positive cases in nearly 50% of the buildings in this community at the worst of the epidemic. We established a temporary Party branch for volunteers in late April, and I am honored to have assisted the secretary in organizing volunteer services in the community as a member of the branch. With the extension of the lockdown, residents have developed negative emotions. Whenever residents were uncooperative in nucleic acid tests, we need to patiently appease their emotions and explain policies. More importantly, we planned queue lines and scheduled time to minimize the possibility of cross infection and dispel residents' worries. Through our concerted efforts, many "positive buildings" have turned "negative" lately, and shortages of manpower and materials have been eased. I feel we are not far away from achieving the goal of eliminating COVID-19 cases. We must endure hardships and go all out to assist the city's "point eradication" action, to create a community without cases.
Ma Yadong at GP Capital:
Since I was appointed as Secretary of the Temporary Party Branch of Jinqiao Community (North) in Puxing Road Sub-district, Pudong New Area on April 19, I started thinking how to fully extend the roles of Party organizations and Party members to every place where they are needed for epidemic prevention and control in complex and arduous community epidemic prevention work. We have carried out the action of "Party building", appointing Party member volunteers as liaisons for each building to play their positive roles in prevention and control measure implementation and policy publicity and guidance. I myself have further explored and advanced grass-roots Party organization building at the Changdao Neighborhood Committee I am assisting, and established temporary Party branches in all the three lanes governed by the committee, to realize the full coverage of grass-roots Party organizations, avoid any omission of Party members' responsibilities, ensure Party volunteers in the entire area are well organized, are self-disciplined and have well-defined duties. Mobilized and guided by our Party organizations at all levels, Party member volunteers have charged ahead in volunteer work, spread positive energy among residents, and played important roles in the effective implementation of prevention and control measures. Some time ago I shared my experience and practices with the secretaries of the temporary Party branches in our sub-district, gaining recognition from district leaders.
Other volunteers also joined heated discussions. Wu inquired about the situation of every frontline volunteer. He stressed that at the crucial stage of epidemic prevention and control, we should further unify our thoughts and understanding, enhance our sense of mission and responsibility, firm up our confidence in winning, resolutely implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, continue to charge ahead, fight hard and overcome hardships during pressing ahead with the ten actions to eliminate COVID-19 cases and fully implementing the tasks and measures of epidemic prevention and control. We should realize the complexity and arduousness of the fight against the epidemic, overcome the slackening of vigilance, war weariness, fluke mind and the relaxation of efforts, work tirelessly, and prepare ourselves mentally for a prolonged battle. We should integrate ourselves into the grass-roots level both physically and mentally, think actively and act proactively in grass-roots governance and Party building in sub-districts and communities, fully leverage our core roles as Party members, executives and volunteers, further improve work quality and efficiency, and temper ourselves in the great test and battle against the epidemic. Meanwhile, we must stay safe and report any arising difficulty so that SIG will provide strong support.
The concern and encouragement from SIG's leaders warmed and inspired the volunteers, and boosted their confidence. They would firm up their confidence, make their mind, firmly unify their thoughts and actions on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches, as well as the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, implement the work requirements of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, work around the clock in epidemic prevention and control, continue to leverage the fortress role of grass-roots Party organizations and the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members, endure hardships, focus closely on goals, overcome all hardship and forge ahead, thus winning the battle for the defense of Shanghai!
