On the afternoon of May 18, according to the annual schedule of the Central Group of the CPC SIG Committee on Theoretical Study, with a view to further strengthening the study of the current economic situation and economic work, SIG held a workshop via video link, to study General Secretary Xi Jinping's recent important speeches on economic work, including his speech in the 38th collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on April 29, the spirit of the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on the current economic situation and economic work on April 29, as well as his speech at the 11th meeting of the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs on April 26. Yu Beihua, Secretary of the CPC SIG Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors, hosted the meeting. With focus on the subject of the study, members of SIG's leading body delivered speeches based on respective work.

The meeting noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping's recent important speeches on economic work, which thoroughly analyzed the current economic situation and set forth clear requirements for next-step economic work, are of far-reaching guiding significance to the planning of SIG's business work. The requirements of "keeping the epidemic under control, stabilizing the economy and developing soundly" underlined at the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee are an important guideline for further coordinating epidemic control with business development. SIG's leaders and executives at all levels should, based on respective work, earnestly study and comprehend the spirit of the meeting, and convert study results into effective moves to advance work and address practical problems.

The meeting noted that 2022 is the concluding year for SIG's three-year development plan, as well as a tough year for reform and development in the "fourteenth five-year" period. While persisting in epidemic prevention and control, we should firm up our confidence, overcome hardships, implement the plans of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, as well as the CPC Committee and Discipline Inspection Commission of the Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, ensure the implementation of major strategies and the fulfillment of important tasks, and endeavor to strike a balance between epidemic control and economic development; we should prepare for worst-case scenarios, keep improving the capability of preventing and dissolving major risks, and make persistent efforts on risk prevention, so as to consolidate the defensive line against risks; we should improve our adaptability to changes, size up the economic situation, and proactively seek prime investment opportunities tallying with SIG's strategies in policy adjustments and market changes.

The meeting stressed that facing the more complex and severe situation, as well as more arduous tasks, SIG's leaders and executives at all levels should make full preparation in terms of thought and action, have a strong sense of responsibility, be realistic and pragmatic, overcome difficulties, create conditions, make up time lost during the epidemic outbreak, go all out for the second half of the battle against the epidemic, and ensure the fulfillment of the annual targets and tasks, so as to meet the 20th CPC National Congress and the 12th Shanghai Municipal Party Congress by action.
