Shanghai's epidemic situation has been grim since March 2022 and Shanghai's financial industry is facing a great test of epidemic prevention and control. Numerous financial practitioners in Shanghai have forged ahead bravely in this special period, fighting in the frontline selflessly to keep Shanghai running normally as an international financial center.
To systematically evaluate the impact of the epidemic on Shanghai's financial industry, and fully find out the actual needs of Shanghai's financial institutions during work resumption, the Shanghai Fintech Industry Alliance (SFIA) worked with CBN to conduct a survey of Shanghai's financial institutions on their facts of duty attendance and work resumption amid epidemic control, issuing the Questionnaire on the Duty Attendance and Work Resumption of Shanghai's Financial Institutions amid Epidemic Control. The survey got positive feedback from relevant sides and effective questionnaires were received from 74 institutions, including financial factor markets, commercial banks, securities companies, futures companies, fund companies and sci-tech enterprises. Their top three concerns are business continuity, system reliability and information security, and 40% of them said they had been heavily affected by the epidemic. In view of other possible emergencies ahead, they will universally take adjustment and improvement measures to improve their capabilities of risk prevention and response.
The results of this survey, which outline the overall impact of the epidemic on Shanghai's financial institutions, are of important referential significance to finding out the real situation of the financial industry. Afterwards SFIA will organize some representative institutions to attend an online seminar to share their experience in, measures for and suggestions on epidemic control. Through this survey, SFIA aims to offer advice on the steady operation of Shanghai's financial industry, further improve the policies of work resumption, and work out integrated solutions for the business operation of financial institutions from the perspective of preparing for peace time and epidemic time, to help Shanghai's financial institutions resume work as soon as possible, and unblock the financial artery.
